5 places in Delhi for street smart shopping

When I was going to Goa for my much awaited vacation, the only thing on the top of my mind was ‘what am I going to wear?’. Because Goa is bohemian in its ways and I wanted to blend in. So, the shopaholic in me zeroed in on flea markets, for sexy yet fun outfits, footwear and accessories to go with them. Below is a list of 5 places in Delhi that would satisfy the ‘shopper in you’ without even cutting a hole in your pocket.

  1. Sarojini Nagar Market

Whoever visits this city, is bound to pay a visit to this market. You can seriously find anything here, from dresses to gowns to footwear to accessories. You name it and you have it. But what one does not know is that you can get beautiful bohemian style gowns at prices that would make your eyes gouge out! I bought four lovely gowns from the export area at just Rs. 500 each. Well you need some good bargaining skills to reach this price. The only mantra is just stick to the price you have quoted.

  1. Janpath Lane Market

Not many people are aware that such market even exists. This one is located behind the LIC office in Inner Circle, Connaught Place. Although this is just one lane but what you find here is more than enough to feed your shopping soul. This market offer the best kind of clothing for girls. Mind it, this is only for girls. The guys section is really limited. You can get good deal on latest trends of denims, shorts and T-shirts at a really good price. Do not forget to bargain!

  1. Lajpat Nagar Central Market

This market is also quite known to the delhiites. Well, I discovered this market a few months ago and I was mesmerised by the air of it. If you are looking for some good pair of shoes or a trendy bag, for instance, this is THE place to go. The collection of footwear and bags is extraordinary. I got a pair of strappy platforms for just Rs. 600 and I got lucky as I got a pair of Kolhapuris for merely 100 bucks. But the sellers here resist to bargain. So if you have your eyes on some great sling, and the shopkeeper isn’t negotiating, then don’t think twice, pay the price. It is worth it!

  1. G.K. M-Block Market

I, personally, do not frequent this market often but it has a blend of luxury shopping with Street smart shops that offers some good clothes at a very affordable price. There are roadside hawkers as well as nice air conditioned showrooms. But do not judge the book by it’s cover because those little shops inside those buildings, offer some great dresses at quite cheap prices. And they are not only some dresses, when you check, there are brands like Zara, Forever 21, Madame and the alike, sold at half the showroom price. So go for it girls!

  1. Inner Circle, Connaught Place

Well, this is the last recommendation in my list and you would be thinking that you have payed a visit to this place so many times, what does it have to offer? But wait a minute, did you pay attention to those small stalls along the pavement. If you did then you probably already know that if you want some great jewellery then this is the place to be. There are so many vendors at this place that sell earrings, bangles, necklaces, anklets and each and every kind of accessory that you wish for. There are some good neck pieces and ethnic earrings that are a grab. And as an add on, you can even find some great pairs of sunglasses here as well.

So, girls take a day off from your routine job, put on a comfortable dress, take some cash in your pocket and raid these markets. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!
